Fire Shut Up In My Bones

If you read about Jeremiah’s life you will have a clearer understanding of these two verses

Jeremiah 1:9 (KJV) “Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.”

and

Jeremiah 20: 9 (KJV) “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay”

WHAT A POETIC IMAGE!!!

He was persecuted for preaching but he could not stop preaching – declaring not his own opinion, but making known what God had revealed to him.

Imagine, the pressure from the word inside him was greater than the pressure from the outside. Jeremiah had to preach. No matter how unpopular his message was, he could not stop preaching.

He knew he would not receive an offering, but he would not be silenced either way. He was not going to preach a message that pleased those who were hearing. He was not going to follow the prevailing human engineered narratives!

WHAT A PREACHER! WHAT A PROPHET!
