The Shunammite Woman

2 Kings 4:8-10 (ESV) “8 One day Elisha went on to Shunem, where a wealthy woman lived, who urged him to eat some food. So whenever he passed that way, he would turn in there to eat food. 9 And she said to her husband, “Behold now, I know that this is a holy man of God who is continually passing our way. 10 Let us make a small room on the roof with walls and put there for him a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp, so that whenever he comes to us, he can go in there.””

2 Kings 4:8-10 (NKJV) “8 Now it happened one day that Elisha went to Shunem, where there was a notable woman, and she persuaded him to eat some food. So it was, as often as he passed by, he would turn in there to eat some food. 9 And she said to her husband, “Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. 10 Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there.””

A few thoughts to get started

She recognized that he was a man of God

Decided to make room for him whenever he passed by

She was making room for her blessing and miracle

She was wealthy (notable) but there was still something that she was lacking in her life

she persuaded (urged/ constrained) him to eat some food – she knew how to access the door to blessing

God was going to use her act of generosity as a means to meet the need that she could not supply for herself
