Another generation arose who did not know the Lord

Judges 2:10 (NKJV) “ When all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which He had done for Israel.”

  • They had the tent of Moses
  • They had the feasts
  • They had the rituals
  • They had the book of the Law

Yet they did not know the Lord nor the work that He had done.

It may seem far fetched and a thing of the distant past, perhaps we should consider it in today’s terms

  • They have churches
  • They have religious celebrations
  • They have religious rituals
  • They have the Word of God

Yet they do not know the Lord nor the work that he has done.

Selah!

How can a generation that

  • saw God part the River Jordan,
  • saw the walls of Jericho fall when they shouted. (the destruction of Jericho)
  • was circumcised at Gilgal (marked for covenant)
  • saw the sun stand still over Gibeon
  • received all the land that God had sworn to their fathers and took possession of it
  • and divided the land

raise up a generation that did not know God nor all the work which He had done for Israel?

We simply cannot afford to let the testimony of our generation die with our generation.

We cannot afford to raise up a generation that does not know God nor the works that He has done.

Consider these scriptures

Psalm 145:4 (NKJV) “One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts.”

Psalm 78:4 (NKJV) “We will not hide them from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.”

Psalm 102:18 (NKJV) “This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the Lord.”
