We must understand that no matter how we attempt to hide the motivation behind what we do, eventually the spirit behind it will speak. If we minister from a heart of guilt, pain, hurt or greed that spirit will eventually speak.
You may be preaching the best message of your life, filled with great insight but the response will be not what you expected. You will find those receiving ministry responding in a way that corresponds to the spirit that is behind what you are teaching. This is why we must be free of sin, preaching from a spirit of adultery or fornication will in the end produce fruit. Not surprising great messages preached yet adulterous and fornicators are the off-spring thereof.
This is not only limited to those that are in the pulpit but even those that are in the praise ministry, altar ministry and etc. Be careful God is looking for those that will worship in Spirit (His Spirit) and Truth. The same is applicable to our giving…! if we are giving with the spirit of mammon being the driving force, then watch what will be reproduced.
Have you ever considered the spirit that is driving you to do what you do, or when you minister. Check yourself not against man but with God as your standard that you may know if you are ministering from the right spirit.
