Unfit for the Kingdom

Serving God is something that most of us long to do, however we should always remember that we do not serve God according to our own preferences. We can not tell God “we are going to serve you and this is how we are going to do it.” Some of us feel like we need to specify our own terms and conditions for serving God. The following is a summary of some of the attitudes that we have encountered as we  have been serving in His marvelous kingdom.

Negotiating  a working contract with God, here are my requirements for working for you.

I will work on a temporary basis until I see the rate of the benefits that are apportioned to me before I decide to take on full-time employment. I will work for advancing the kingdom and put the number of hours that are equivalent to my remuneration. I choose  to only work weekends (Sundays in particular provided it does not conflict with great social activities such as football, baseball and all other related activities). Nights are definitely off limits. I do not like to be called into work without advance notice. Please be advised that I only come to work or carry out my normal duties outside work hours when it is convenient for me. I do promise that occasionally I will be on time for work and some meetings depending on my previous day’s activities. I will take days off without giving notice.

I reserve the right to choose my own potential clients. If I do not think we can obtain a required response I will not make a product presentation to them because I am result oriented. My time is precious and valuable so I will not waste it on those kind of people. I will not let others know of the employment opportunities within the organization because competition is tough. I am all for job security so I will not participate in any recruitment activities such as training, praying for the city. I elect to maintain my privacy and as such forthrightly state that  lending any of my images for use in the production of promotional media for the organization is out of the question unless I am guaranteed  royalties and monetary compensation. I will still maintain my image rights and should I leave the organization, the aforementioned will discontinue use of my image or likeness immediately.

I reserve the right to quit when I feel I cannot take it any more or when I am offended. I expected to be greeted by other courteous staff members, should they not behave as expected I request in advance to be transferred to a new division but not in the same location. I expect not to be in the same position should I transfer, by virtue of experience attained at the previous location. If this does not work and my supervisors turn out to be the same then my initial position stands, I will quit the organization once and for all.

I expect to get a promotion, in particular I need to preach on a grand platform within the next six months. I do not particularly like to read product manuals so I will just  wing it. I will come up with a better methodology to do the task that has been assigned to me. With regards to my conduct, I am my own person so I will behave anyway that I decide as long as I am not on the premises of the organization. I will only act as a member of the organization amongst other members of staff, otherwise everything goes. I will only talk about the organization when I am on the premises otherwise I do not want to use the boss’ name in vein when away.

My independent nature is not compatible with being accountable or reporting to anyone so I will keep to myself and occasional smile when convenient. I am accustomed to working with minimum supervision hence I will only call on the boss, when I can not get myself out of a fix. The time it takes for him to respond to my request will determine whether I will stay with the organization or submit my resume to the other organization. By the way I request permission in advance for the right to use your name when I need to get favors from others, and need to be trusted.

Health benefits. I expect full health coverage, from every sickness and disease and please be advised prevention would even be better.
