Because we need revelation in our lives, In this prayer we pray for God to open our eyes that we may see and our ears that we may hear – what the spirit is saying and what the spirit is doing
Matthew 6:33 (KJV) “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 16:17 (NKJV) “Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.”
Psalms 19:1 (NKJV) “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.”

I Corinthians 2:11-12 (NKJV) “For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.”

Divine Revelation can be

  • instantaneous
  • progressive

Hebrews 1: 1 -2 (NKJV) “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;”

Divine revelation has been given to men in portions with each portion building on the previous – Hence it is progressive. The bible provides us with an overview of the progress of God’s revelation

This may be viewed in two categories

  • General revelation
  • Special revelation

General revelation
includes that which God has revealed of himself to mankind

The general revelation of God
