When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, he does not come so you can say I am anointed. But he comes to empower you to do. He does not come to anoint you so you can wear colorful suits. It is for the redemption of man and the purposes of God that you are anointed. We Need to understand the anointing and its purpose.

  • the anointing is not to give you goose bumps
  • the anointing is not you-centric but the anointing is other-centric
  • the anointing is there to solve problems
  • the anointing rises up because there is a challenge
  • the anointing is not to make a name for yourself
  • the anointing is destroy yokes
  • the anointing is not to see how many fall or how many cry, but to destroy yokes and set the captives free.
  • its those that have ministered to by the anointing that are going to turn back and build the kingdom
  • the anointing ministers to the people and builds them up so that they can do what God has assigned them to do.

There is a purpose for the anointing. If we say that an anointing is raised up for a purpose then we should take time to identify the purpose of the anointing that we feel in a service. Most of us celebrate because of the things that we feel when the anointing begins to flow and we do not adequately thank God for the purpose that he has released the anointing for.

Isaiah 10:27 (NKJV) “It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.”

Isaiah 61:1 – 4 (KJV) “1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. 4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.”

Luke 4:18 (KJV) The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Acts 10:38 (KJV) “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”

2 Corinthians 1:21 (KJV) Now he that establisheth us with you in Christ, and anointed us, is God;

Hebrews 1:9 (KJV) “Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.”
