What is a prophet?One who is divinely inspired to communicate God’s will to His people

The three sources of prophecy and only one is true

• The Spirit Of God
• The Heart of man
• The spirit of the devil

You have a responsibility as a recipient of a prophetic word

Judging a prophetic word?

• Try every spirit (discernment)
• Judge it by the Word of God (does it measure up against the Word of God)
• look at the fruit – you shall know them by their fruit – (fruit of the spirit)

1 Kings 22 :1- 28 (NKJV)

Ezekiel 13:2-3 (NKJV) “Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, ‘Hear the word of the Lord !’ ” Thus says the Lord God : “Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!”

Deuteronomy 18:20 (NKJV) “But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.’”

Galatians 5: 19 – 26 (NKJV) “19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,[c] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.”

Ezekiel 2:7-8 (NKJV) “You shall speak My words to them, whether they hear or whether they refuse, for they are rebellious. But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”

Ezekiel 13:6 (NKJV) “They have envisioned futility and false divination, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord !’ But the Lord has not sent them; yet they hope that the word may be confirmed.”
