The Value Of Your Worship

Date: May 19, 2016/Comments: 0

The simple equation of life – You are ultimately going to worship whatever/ whoever you keep before you. Whatever your worship you are going to serve. And whatever you serve is going to be lord over you.
When we bring worship to God we do not do it whichever way we please, but in a way that God has prescribed. It’s more than a song, it’s more than an offering. What gives your worship/gift/ sacrifice value is how much of you is in it. The question is, is your heart in what you are offering to God? It may be a perfect song with all the proper arrangements but if your heart is not in it, it is an empty song, sacrifice or gift. God wants us to live in Romans 12:1, presenting our bodies as living sacrifices before God. If we do well we will be accepted. In this prayer we ask for God to give us an understanding of the true value of worship and what worship avails to those that worship in spirit and truth.

Scriptures referenced to in this prayer/ teaching

Psalm 138:2 (NKJV) “I will worship toward Your holy temple, And praise Your name For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.”

Genesis 4:3-7 (NKJV) “And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord . Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

John 4:23 (NKJV) “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.”

Isaiah 66:3-4 (NKJV) “He who kills a bull is  as  if he slays a man; He who sacrifices a lamb, as  if he breaks a dog’s neck; He who offers a grain offering, as  if  he  offers swine’s blood; He who burns incense, as  if he blesses an idol. Just as they have chosen their own ways, And their soul delights in their abominations, So will I choose their delusions, And bring their fears on them; Because, when I called, no one answered, When I spoke they did not hear; But they did evil before My eyes, And chose that in which I do not delight.”

Psalm 100: 4 (NKJV) “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.”

Psalm 96: 8 (NKJV) “Give to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come into His courts.”

1 Kings 18: 24 – 29 (NKJV) “24 Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” So all the people answered and said, “It is well spoken.” 25 Now Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one bull for yourselves and prepare it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.” 26 So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, “O Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made. 27 And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.” 28 So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them. 29 And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.”

Luke 4: 5 – 8 (NKJV) “5 Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him[d] all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.” 8 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan![e] For[f] it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”[g]”

Heart of Worship (When the music fades) lyrics
Lyrics:
Verse 1
When the music fades
All is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that’s of worth
That will bless your heart

Bridge
I’ll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You’re looking into my heart

Chorus
I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about You
It’s all about You, Jesus
I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it
When it’s all about You
It’s all about You, Jesus
