In our pursuit of spiritual growth and understanding, we often encounter teachings and messages that claim to be from God. They may sound holy, polished, prophetic, and anointed. Yet, it is crucial to discern whether Heaven has truly sanctioned these messages. As believers, we must remember: if heaven has not sanctioned it, it is NOT of God.
It is easy to be swayed by eloquent words and charismatic delivery. A message might feel deeply spiritual and resonate with our emotions, but we must ask ourselves whether it aligns with God’s will. True spiritual discernment requires more than just emotional resonance; it requires seeking God’s approval and confirmation through prayer and reflection.
Jesus, in the 23rd chapter of the Gospel according to Matthew, issued a cautionary message highlighting the Pharisees’ tendency to elevate their own interpretations and traditions above the commandments of God. Today, we face a similar challenge. There are voices that, though well-meaning, elevate their opinions to the level of God’s will. It is of utmost importance to distinguish between individuals’ subjective opinions and God’s divine guidance.
Our prayer should always be, “Thy will be done.” This is not merely a passive acceptance, but an active pursuit of what God has sanctioned. We pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, aligning our desires and actions with His divine plan. This prayer requires humility, surrender, and a willingness to silence our own agendas.
In our spiritual communities, there are modern-day Pharisees who, intentionally or unintentionally, impose their interpretations as God’s will. We must pray for discernment to recognize these voices and the courage to seek God’s true will. This requires individuals to dedicate themselves to scripture, prayer, and relying on the Holy Spirit for guidance.
The end of the matter is this; our spiritual journey requires a constant check against God’s will. No matter how holy, polished, prophetic, or anointed a message may seem, if heaven does not sanction it, it is not of God. Today, let us pray fervently for God’s will to be done. Let us seek His guidance, silence the voices that exalt human opinion, and align ourselves with God’s purpose. Amen!
