God has given us the privilege to be the parents of this generation and to be forefathers of the generations after, yet we have neglected the very duties that were endowed unto us by our creator.
Our duties besides that of provision have always been to instill the Word, the Truth and proper values in the hearts of our children, to teach them moral things, to provide role models of God’s parentage, to teach them how to forgive, to teach them how to love unconditionally, to teach them how to respect others, to teach them how to pray, to teach them of God’s love and grace and most of all to ensure that when the time of decision comes they will willingly accept the Lord because they know of Him and His nature. During one of our prayer times, we were led to pray this prayer. We hope that it will be a blessing to you and bring to remembrance the assignment God has for our generation.
Psalm 145:4 “One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.” (KJV)
The Prayer
Father, forgive us for the children that we murdered and those we are murdering. Father, forgive us for those children we aborted and never allowed to see the glory of your kingdom. Forgive us for those we have denied your love. Forgive us for the gifts that we left behind; forgive us for the blessings, which we denied. Forgive us for the children we have given to the devil. We repent for not having done enough, we repent for generations before for having passed curses, which they should have dealt with in their time and other sins, which are now curses in our generation and now affect this new generation because we did not stop them. We repent for having contributed to the growth of a generation that has turned their backs on God because we have not proclaimed the WORD in their childhood as we should have. We have not provided role models with proper character, which is what we are supposed to be to our children. Forgive us father for having projected our ignorance and greed upon our children. Forgive us for not having instilled proper work ethics in them, so much so that they know not the value of work.
We have contributed to the raising up of children who are more convinced that there is more than one God. A generation that is so deprived of the knowledge of God. A generation that is quick to sin and slow to repent. We have not provided an environment to promote the spiritual growth of our children; the little word we leave them to receive in Sunday school just fizzles out because they are taught other things for the greater part of their days. We have contributed to the raising up of a generation that knows not to be patient with anything.
We have brought forth a generation that refuse to leave home for anything instead they desire to kick us out from our homes. We have birthed a rebellious generation because of our rebellion. We have birthed a lazy generation expecting everything to come without their effort. Father, forgive us for encouraging them in all the wrong things.
