We have brought up a generation that makes a mockery of our very own creator. A generation that is void of understanding in the meaning of prayer, a generation that considers it foolishness to be on their knees praying or to be lifting up their hands in the sanctuary. A generation polluted by the revolutions, which we started in our time. Revolutions that have contributed to increases in: broken homes; broken marriages; divorces rates; pregnant teenagers; fatherless children; motherless children; promiscuity; prostitution; adultery; fornication; disobedience; crime; messed up sexuality; and immorality. If we had dealt with these issues during our time then surely this generation would not be fighting these very same things. We were supposed to teach them what it means to be a man, a woman, a husband, a wife, a father and a mother; instead all we have provided for, have been greater means to escape from those very responsibilities. Forgive us Father for the fatherless nation we have allowed to grow amongst us. Forgive us Father for the abandoned children, for children who will never know their mothers and fathers. Father, forgive us for the children we abandoned, forgive us for the children we ran away from.
We have contributed to the anger and resentment our children have against you Lord, because in our little or no attempt to teach we have not included you resulting in most of our prayers being futile hence the doubt that has arisen in our off spring. The very things that we teach and show on Sunday are only a show for others yet our offspring have seen the shallowness of our acts. They know whom we are when we are outside the church walls. We only pray when its convenient and the kids have gone to sleep. What traditions have we inspired our children to follow? That it is right to hurt and kill someone of a different color or race, that it is right to hate someone because they speak a language different from ours? What have we contributed to prepare the hearts of the glory generation for the coming of the Lord?
